Asia and Australia dates

Post by mekons63 » Sat Jul 12, 2014 6:59 pm

Chris Brokaw has put up some post-Furs tour dates for Lemonheads shows in Asia and Australia noting that more will likely be added. He's also got a few solo house concerts listed on east coast (wish he'd do some of those in Texas!)

Singapore, at Singapore Indoor Stadium
Nov 30 -- The Lemonheads
Hong Kong, at the Clockenflap Festival
Dec 2 -- The Lemonheads
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, at Cargo
Dec 4 -- The Lemonheads
Manila, Phillipines, at Raven Super Club
Dec 6 -- The Lemonheads
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at Urbanscapes Festival
Dec 9 -- The Lemonheads
Melbourne, Australia, at Corner Hotel
Dec 10 -- The Lemonheads
Melbourne, Australia, at Corner Hotel
Dec 11 -- The Lemonheads
Sydney, Australia, at Metro Theatre
Dec 12 -- The Lemonheads
Brisbane, Australia, at The Zoo
Dec 14 -- The Lemonheads

ha ha @Suzy - I hear you but I think mum's have to be excited :)

I was curious as to whether it would be a solo gig or Ev with a band (Lemonheads). My guess is that it is going to be a four-piece with Brokaw as a second guitarist. That would be sweet. I've only ever seen Brokaw playing as a duo ith Ev, not with a band. Or even Brokaw on drums and that Ford fella as a guitarist and back-up vocalist. I think young Mr. Ford is pretty talented although others may disagree. Either way I can't wait. I wonder if he will play any smaller gigs. There is not really much of a market for live music here in Hong Kong. Actually, I'm a lecturer at a college here. I've been trying to turn my students onto the Lemonheads (Evan) for years but no dice.

Noticed these dates have been deleted from the front page. Did they fall through?

Maybe the announcement was a little premature. As far as the Hong Kong gig it is actually a festival. However, the festival has not been announced for 2014 and tickets are definitely not for sale yet. Ftranz Ferdinand headlined last year. I have tried to contact the organisers but no luck so far. Brokaw may have jumped the gun lol.

I noticed that someone tweeted a link to an article announcing their first ever show in Vietnam on Dec 2 so it looks like all those SE Asian/Australian dates are coming to light.

I'm really having trouble finding any info about the Hong Kong gig. It is a 3 day festival from 28-30 November but I would be lying if I said I had any interest beyond seeing the Lemonheads. Tenacious D are also on the bill but no one else I am familiar with. That is not saying much though as I am completely out of touch with contemporary artists. Honestly, I am 40 and I rarely (never) see live music anymore. I'll make the effort since Dando is my favourite artist but I really need to figure when he is playing lol.

Lol I'm a vegetarian and an Aussie so I can't help him out with any turkey unfortunately. I was considering gifting him a vaporizer and a nice bag of dank buds but I don't have any idea if that is his thing these days. It must be such a tired cliché for Ev getting offered drugs wherever he goes but I personally don't consider cannabis a drug. I just hope if he is still dabbling in other substances that he is very careful while in Asia.

Has anyone read the promotional blurb that Handsome Tours are sprouting. Apparently Evan has been "holed up" with Ben Deilly and Juliana Hatfield "back in the studio". What a bunch of bullshit and that is via The Lemonheads Facebook page. Am I missing something here? I think this is obviously a reference to the much hyped yet abandoned LA sessions with Ryan Adams.

Of course their Facebook page still lists Vess Rutenburg as the current bass player. It sort of needs updating.
